The Golden Gravel Bike Trail

Plus, cycling in Kenya and Stats for the Nerds

Welcome to the Bike Bulletin. It’s like your friend who has the repair kit, the route, and extra snacks.

I’m about to start the VTXL tomorrow, from the top of Vermont to the bottom. Expect a recap of the ride next Thursday. The leaves are popping and the temperatures are dropping.

This is a weekly newsletter about bike trips, urban cycling, and a love for two-wheeled transit. The more time you spend on a bike, the better. I share new editions every Thursday, gearing you up for the ride ahead.

Here’s what we have today.

  • 🌍 RIDE: Golden Gravel Trail

  • 🎥 WATCH: Lachlan Goes to Kenya

  • 🚲 ARCHIVES: Retro Cycling Kits

  • 📰 NEWS: Street closures and new bike lanes

From Adventure Cycling, “Experience the full spectrum of American landscapes as you traverse rolling Ozark hills, endless Great Plains, stark deserts, and challenging alpine passes to reach the dramatic Pacific coastline.”

Here’s what you’d be getting yourself into.

WHAT I’M WATCHING

Lachlan Goes to Kenya

EF Pro continues their series following Lachlan Morton’s adventures. In this video, he visits Kenya for the Migration Gravel Race. Get a glimpse at the unbelivable riding and culture.

Some features of Kenya that I would like:

  • Zebras

  • The Rift Valley

  • Friendly people everywhere

  • A mix of pristine roads and terrifying roads
